sagittal slice
Ever wonder what you would look like with your head cut up into one millimeter thick slices? Me too. I recently got the chance to find out as a subject in a psycholinguistics study. They stuck me in an MRI machine for two hours and gave me stupid language tests. In return, I got some really unique snapshots. This one is definitely my good side. Great views of the cerebral cortex, the corpus callosum, the brainstem and the cerebellum.

For a very interesting MRI-based tour of the human brain, surf on over to The Whole Brain Atlas. Simply amazing. Some totally fascinating dissection photos are available here. (No, I haven't had mine dissected yet. I still need it.)
axial slice coronal slice Here's an axial slice, with a good view of the eyeball and the optic nerve, and a coronal slice, showing the brainstem. Eeeeww!
brain activation Now this one is cool. The colors indicate brain activity, with the yellow and red indicating the most active neurons. What I'm doing here is trying to think of as many kitchen utensils as possible. Now where did I put those forks?
