This demonstration allows the observer to see how three pendulums move

as the model earth rotates. The three pendulums are located at three different

locations: at the North Pole, at the Equator, and at Buffalo, New York, with a

latitude of approximately 43 degrees. Any or all the elastic pendulums are set

swinging, and the change in the direction in which they are swinging with

respect to the earth can be observed as the entire model is rotated.

The shifting of the swing is called precession.
