PHY 108 Spring 2005

(4/25) The final exam is, again, scheduled to be on 5/5, next Thursday, in 112 Norton, from 11:45am to 02:45pm. The final exam will cover chapter 29 (sections 4 and 5), and chapters 30, 31, and 32. The format of the exam is similar to that of the midterms. The exam is not cumulative in the sense that I will ask questions only from the chapters mentioned above. However, you need to understand the material on which these chapters are built.

(4/23) HW for Chapter 31 (Magnetism and Matter) is now online.

(4/19) Note that Chapter 31 (Magnetism and Matter) is now included and HW will be posted for this chapter. We are going to skip chapter 33.

(3/31) The third midterm will be on Thursday, 4/7, that is, a week from today. The exam will cover the chapters on Direct-Current Circuits, The Effects of Magnetic Fields and the chapter on The Production and Properties of Magnetic Fields up to and including section 3. Bear in mind that this material is challenging, so for best result you should redo all HW problems in preparation for the exam.

(3/31) The final exam has been scheduled by UB. It will be on Thursday, 5/5, 11:45 AM - 02:45 PM in room Norton 112.

(3/31) HWs for the rest of the semester are available online here.

(2/28) The second midterm has been postponed by two days. It will be on Thursday, 3/10 (next week), in class.

(2/19) The results for the first exam are posted here.

(2/9) The first midterm exam is on Thursday, 2/10, in class. The exam covers the first three chapters in the book, 21, 22 and 23. The exam is closed book, you can prepare a one-page equation sheet with formulae only, no worked problems. The best way to prepare for the exam is to review the HW problems, and the examples that are solved in detail in the book. Good luck!

(2/2) The third (Gauss' Law) HW is online. Remember, the second HW is due today, 2/2!

(1/24) Due to certain technical issues, the homework page became visible only after the original deadline. Please note that the page is now up, and the first two homeworks has been assigned. The deadline for the first homework was changed to 1/31, that is, next Monday 5pm.

(1/19) The first midterm is scheduled for 10 February, the second midterm for 8 March, the third midterm for 5 April, all in class, 454 Fronczak Hall. The final exam will be scheduled by UB.

(1/19) All HW for the semester will be posted here: Homework
